  • A1:  An Evaluation and an Abbreviated Class.

Evaluation:  The student-athlete’s capability will be assessed against the Athletic Baseline Matrix exercises.  This will allow the instructor to identify any foundational athletic weaknesses, and to predict how many classes the student-athlete is likely to need to resolve any weaknesses and fully establish their Athletic Baseline.

Abbreviated Class:  The Sample Class is also an abbreviated version of one in a series of classes within the Tier 3 course.  The instructor will lead a demonstration of the five Blocks that comprise a class, facilitating walkthroughs and representative samples of related exercises.  The Sample Class is also a great forum to ask questions and gain additional program details.

  • A2:  Up to a maximum of four student-athletes.  Private community partnerships and the general public community partnership classes may be programmed to have a higher student ratio.

  • A3: Short Answer = No.

While the Tier 2 Intermediate Level Course requires tryouts and a well developed athletic capability to participate, the Tier 3 Entry Level Course is designed to be accessible to all students.  Current athletes will find themselves challenged at higher athletic steps of the Athletic Baseline Matrix, and during the ‘Challenge’ and ‘Functional Fitness’ Blocks.  Students without previous athletic training will take longer to develop the Tier 3 fundamental athletic capabilities, and demonstrating the Athletic Baseline will require more incremental progress.

The IDH/Academy deliberately utilizes the term ’student-athlete’ and asserts that these two words should not be separated — the greatest athletes are students of their game, and all students deserve to develop and experience fundamental athletic skills and competence.

  • A4:  An Ideal Hunter is a practitioner of adaptable self-mastery.  In the same way that Mario is the flagship character of Nintendo, the Ideal Hunter is the flagship character of the IDH/Academy.

  • A5: The student-athlete’s performance is measured from class-to-class against the Athletic Baseline Matrix across 12 lines of athletic movements.  Each line is a functional fitness movement that is primarily classified as either a strength, explosiveness, coordination, or flexible stability movement.  When the student-athlete can perform the 12 lines of athletic movements within the allotted time and without any micro-failures (i.e. instability or inability), their Athletic Baseline will be demonstrated / achieved.  Refer to the ‘Tier 3 Course’ page for more information.

  • A6: Possibly, but it is not likely.  This can be assessed during a free Sample Class.

Please Note:  Even our most athletically competent students can be positively served by the Tier 3 Entry Level course’s athletic and academic programming (especially pre-season or off-season).  During the Sample Class, we can demonstrate where there is room to grow in their explosiveness, coordination, strength, and flexibility, and how these capabilities will be challenged as the student-athlete progresses up the athletic steps of the Athletic Baseline Matrix.  If your student-athlete is not challenged, he will graduate quickly, and/or we can discuss early access to the Tier 2 Intermediate Level.

  • A7: The common thread between parents is that they are all prepared to invest in an after-school/nights/weekends style program for their student-athlete, and they find that IDH/Academy delivers the benefit, value, and advantage they’re looking for. Parents generally view IDH/Academy as an alternative, replacement, or supplement to other standard enrichment programs (i.e. programs like baseball, boy scouts, summer camps, or other sports).

  • A8: I’m afraid so.  As such, now is the best time to receive the full value and benefit of the program at its lowest possible cost.

  • A9: You may always submit an inquiry via our ‘Contact Us’ form or email us at Info@IDHBrand.com, but the best way to gain a deeper impression of what the program provides is to sign up for a free Sample Class - use the form on the Home Page.

Who we are

The Ideal Hunter Academy (IDH/Academy) is a Virginia Beach City grassroots coalition that is being lead by the Academy Director with support from an Advisory Board. This Board is comprised of representatives from the local community to include Physical Health and Fitness Specialists, Navy Seals, Youth Club Advisors and Instructors, Child Development Specialists, and a few other related specialists. While our future-oriented business masterplan has national expectations, we are currently limiting our pilot program to student-athletes in the Hampton Roads, Virginia area, and limiting initial community development partnerships to Virginia Beach and Norfolk.

Why we care

Why has the IDH Team pursued this work?  We believe that the investment into our youth is a lot like the investment into our stock / mutual fund / 401k portfolios…earlier investment and higher quality investment can lead to substantial, exponential returns and compound interest.  The right investment has the potential to change the trajectory and outcomes in one’s life.  After developing this program and seeing its tangible benefit to the student-athlete, we came to the only obvious conclusion:  We must share it with others as a service to the youth and parents in our extended community, and eventually nationally.  We are delighted to be your partners in helping your student-athlete with maintaining and accelerating a path toward thriving, personal freedom, autonomy, and competence…a path towards the Ideal.
