Services: IDH/Academy is not your standard-issue nights and weekends enrichment program.  It is a goal-orienting technology and potential maximization strategy for your student-athlete.  Our three courses scale in their involvement and challenge, but remain a fun, potent, and novel market approach to whole-character development.

Note: At this time, our scope of services is limited to the Hampton Roads, Virginia area only.

IDH/Academy Lore

“Pop Culture Pedagogy”

Pop Culture Pedagogy: The IDH Academy utilizes a ‘Game of Life’ framework as a primary instructional approach and surprisingly powerful explanatory tool.  By analogy, we connect the academic curriculum to various gaming frameworks that are familiar and accessible to every student (i.e. board games, sports games, video games, and also movies). IDH/Academy curricula related to the ‘Hero’s Journey’ archetype and self-mastery concepts become accessible to even our youngest students by translating them through this instructional tool.

Who we are

The IDH/Academy is a Virginia Beach City grassroots coalition that is being lead by the Academy Director with support from an Advisory Board. This Board is comprised of representatives from the local community to include Physical Health and Fitness Specialists, Navy Seals, Youth Club Advisors and Instructors, Child Development Specialists, and a few other related specialists. While our future-oriented business masterplan has national expectations, we are currently limiting our pilot program to student-athletes in the Hampton Roads, Virginia area, and limiting initial community development partnerships to Virginia Beach and Norfolk.
